I was able to develop a unique color technique, which although seems structured, it is mostly left to develop naturally where color is left to flow and become absorbed onto the canvas. Replacing light and shade with color intensities and transparencies, combined with contrasting backgrounds and elements create my artwork’s uniqueness. I aspire for my art to be seen as simple yet intriguing; solid yet fluid.
“Bloom” depicts a flower vase and blossoms. It is an embodiment of Aristotle’s De Anima which explains that every living thing has a form, and how the soul is the first actuality of its being. It also distinguishes three kinds of souls, one of which is the nutritive soul whose functions are growth, self-maintenance and reproduction. It is closely associated with plants and is said to have no share in reason. This is reflected by my technique which allows an unrestricted but natural flow of color.
